One Week to Go: What to Know Before the May 19 Vote
May 12, 2026
Dear Pleasantville Community,
With one week to go, we encourage all Pleasantville residents to take a few minutes to review what’s on the ballot for the May 19 vote.
Voters will consider:
- The 2026–27 school budget
- The Capital Project (Propositions I & II)
- The Board of Education election
Polls will be open 6:30 AM – 9 PM at the Pleasantville Middle School Multi-Purpose Room.
As a reminder, the school budget (also known as the operating budget) funds different items than those in a capital project. The operating budget is instructional, whereas the capital projects fund upgrades, improvements, and safety enhancements to learning environments and facilities. These items cannot be funded through the annual operating budget and are also eligible for significant NY State building aid. In fact, the district is reimbursed by the state for approximately 53% of every borrowed dollar.
Attached, please find one-sheet overviews of both the budget and capital project to help you get informed. You can also learn more through the materials posted online, including a detailed Question & Answer section:

We encourage all residents to stay informed and participate in this important community decision. We welcome any questions; contact us at CapitalProject@pleasantvilleschools.org
