PreKindergarten Registration for 2026-27

Dear Pleasantville Families, 

I would like to provide important information and a timeline for Pre-Kindergarten registration for the 2026-27 school year. 
 

Registration Period  

Eligible students may register from Monday, December 29, 2025, through Friday, January 23, 2026.

Registration is NOT on a first come first serve basis. The date you register will NOT impact your access to Pre-K. 
 
In order to successfully register, you will need to demonstrate three things: 
  • Your child must turn 4 years old on or before December 1, 2026 in order to be eligible for Pre-K in the 2026-27 school year. 
  • You must prove you are a current resident of the Pleasantville Union Free School District.  
  • Your child’s annual physical and immunization schedule must be up-to-date and compliant.  
The District will review all registration packets and ensure the age and residency requirements are met. Our Pre-K provider, the YMCA, will review the medical information to ensure compliance. 
 

Visitation at the Pre-K Site 

Parents/guardians are invited (not required) to visit the school site, Holy Rosary at 170 Bradhurst Ave, Hawthorne, NY 10532 on one of the followings dates/times: 
 
January 8th 2:30-3:30pm 
January 13th 5:30-6:30pm 
 
The YMCA staff will be there to discuss the program with you, along with our elementary school principal, Rachel Hunger. 
 
Due to space restrictions, this is an adult only visit. 
 

Lottery 

At this time, we anticipate having 61 available spots for UPK for the 2026-27 school year. If more than 61 students are fully registered by January 23rd, there will be a lottery held on January 30th for the available openings in the program. 
 
Each student who has completed the registration process will be assigned a lottery number. Families will be notified of their lottery number on February 2nd. 
 
The first 61 draws (3 classes) will be offered spots in the program. Everyone else will be placed on a waitlist. If an offered spot is declined by the family, the next child on the waitlist will be notified until we have all 61 spots filled. 
 
Commitment to the program is required by February 13th. Students must attend the program for five hours (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.) on all days it is in session. The program will follow the school district calendar. Any additional hours of childcare by the YMCA will be directly between the YMCA and the family.
