Pville Community Connection: Updates for a Great Year Ahead!

August 29, 2025
Dear Pleasantville Families,
The first day of school is always one of my favorite moments of the year, watching students walk through the doors with energy, anticipation, and smiles. Whether it’s a kindergartner with a brand-new backpack or a senior beginning their final year, there is nothing quite like the excitement of new beginnings.
As a newcomer myself, I’ve had the privilege of experiencing that same sense of anticipation this summer as I get up to speed on all things Pleasantville. One highlight was joining our new faculty members on the annual bus tour of the district, famously led by Mr. Fonde. It was the perfect introduction to the strong sense of community and tradition that makes Pleasantville so special.
I’d like to share a few important updates and reminders as we begin the 2025–26 school year:
- Free Meals for All Students: As I described in my ParentSquare message on August 14, beginning this year, breakfast and lunch are free for every student, every day. Please reference the previous message for details and a helpful Q&A.
- New Internet-Enabled Device Policy: The New York State Distraction-Free Schools Act was also included in my August 14 message. Starting this school year, students are to keep internet-enabled devices (like cell phones and smartwatches) out of sight during the school day. Our district has adopted Policy #7316 in accordance with the law, as we strive to create a more focused, engaging learning environment.
- Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Search: The search process is coming to a conclusion, and we are committed to finding the right leader to support teaching and learning across the district. In the meantime, our administrative team is working closely together to ensure a smooth start to the year.
- Capital Project Community Forum: Please mark your calendars for our next community forum, scheduled for Monday, September 29, at 7:30 PM in the High School auditorium. This will be an opportunity to learn the latest on Capital Project planning updates and hear from you directly as we move forward together.
This letter also marks the very first edition of Pville Community Connection, a monthly newsletter from me to keep families informed and engaged with what’s happening across the district. You can expect a new issue each month with news, updates, and stories that highlight the great work happening in the Pleasantville Schools.
As we start the year, I want to thank you for the warm welcome I have already received from so many of you. I am honored to join this community. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff and supportive families and getting to know our incredible students.
Here’s to a wonderful school year ahead.
Warmly,
Eric Lutinski
